Unread message count when hovering over the Windows tray icon is incorrect

Description

When I hover over the pidgin icon on the system tray in Windows XP, it reports N unread messages from <person> and I have read all the messages from that person already. I closed that person's tab and the message still says the same.

Just FYI, the contact with which this is happening now is a Gtalk contact.
