Error Installing Spellchecking : Timed out on connecting.

When installing Pidgin 2.0.0 (downloaded 2007 MAY 18) I get this popup when the installer attempts to download aspell_installer.exe:

Error Installing Spellchecking : Timed out on connecting. with buttons for Retry or Cancel

I am not behind a proxy, I can browse the web using IE, Firefox, and other internet apps. I am also able to use firefox to download http://www.pidgin.im/win32/download_redir.php?version=2.0.0.7&dl_pkg=lang_en

I select retry several times no luck. I cancel the installation and the pidgin install completes. Please help. Meanwhile, I have gotten Aspell-en-0.50-2-3.exe from the url above. When I attempt to install it separately, it tells me that Aspell not found and whether to abort. I select no, and the installation continues and completes.

Will installing Aspell this way work properly with pidgin? How do I resolve the original issue?

The code that automatically downloads the installer and dictionary is unable to automatic proxy configuration. If you had a static proxy host set up in IE, it would be able to use it.

You can manually install Aspell and a dictionary from http://aspell.net/win32 and it will work identically to if aspell was installed by the installer.
