appear offline MSN user messaging failure

Description

if you have on your contact list a user who appears to be offline you can't msg him, you would get a well known message "the message can't be send to an offline user". On the other hand if he msgs you you would be able to reply to him but also under conditions, which is that after few seconds after his message if you didn't reply to him you won't be able to send him a backwards message due to Switchboard time out. I hope that this feature would be available in next 2.x.x versions or in 3.x

I have the same problem. This is something that should get some attention, IMHO.

This is fixed with 2.2.1

I'm running Pidgin 2.2.2 and I'm still experiencing the described behaviour. Only after someone sends me a message can I respond. It's possible that the timeout is now longer or removed completely, I haven't tested that.

From the ChangeLog:

version 2.2.2 (10/23/2007):
        http://developer.pidgin.im/query?status=closed&milestone=2.2.2
NOTE: Due to the way this release was made, it is possible that
bugs marked as fixed in 2.2.1 or 2.2.2 will not be fixed
                          until the next release.

Wait for the next release that doesn't have that mentioned in the ChangeLog and re-open this if needed. That said, the behavior described in this ticket sounds like the way MSN switchboards normally operate.
