Log Viewer should not convert characters into smileys in date and time

If "History" plugin is enabled, it converts parts of date and time strings in conversation log entry into smileys, so e.g. (2007-07-20 15:46:58) is shown as (2007-07-20 15:46:5 <smiley> because "8)" is a defined smiley. Gaim itself does not do that in conversation window, only this plugin does this ugly conversion.

This is rather old...is it still happening? Maybe move to Patches Welcome if it's still occurring?

I'm pretty sure this isn't still occurring. I use this plugin and never see this.

Why are you doing this? Yes, the problem is still problem - in 2.5.7. Nothing was fixed. I can send you screenshots.

And this is old. It does not mean it disappears without any change. It is old, because nobody cares to fix.

Would it become tradition in pidgin to hide problems instead of fixing it?

Problems sometimes get fixed without tickets being closed and, as I said, I don't experience this. I apologize if you're offended, that was not my intention. Please do post a screenshot.

Is the issue the History plugin or the Log Viewer? (or is it text entered into a conversation window by the history plugin and viewed in the Log Viewer?)

To clarify, the history plugin loads logs the last conversation and displays it in the scrollback area of a conversation window when a new conversation is started. The log viewer is the dialog you have open in the screenshot which is displaying the improper emoticon.
