Description

Only aim and Yahoo registry entry can be updated at install time. Nothing for xmpp.

It isn't really related to the installer, the URI handler for the xmpp protocol hasn't been implemented yet.

Once added should we support xmpp: and jabber: for this, or just xmpp?

The XEP and the rfc it refers to (which is the old one, a newer version RFC 5122 exists) specify xmpp: so that is what I would implement, and leave jabber: out of the picture.
