"Conversation Colors" plugin breaks the displaying of a sent image in an AIM direct IM

Reported by: pazpaz Owned by: sadrul
Milestone: Component: plugins
Version: 2.1.1 Keywords: conversation colors, direct connect
Cc: kneuk, pva

Description

When the "Conversation Colors" plugin is enabled, inserting an image into an AIM conversation works, but when I send the image nothing shows up on my side of the conversation. The other person does see the image.

I'm also having this issue, using version 2.4.1 on WinXP and WinVista?. Disabling the plugin resolves the issue.

This issue is clearly in the convcolors plugin, not AIM. Sadrul, can you take a look at this and see if you can fix it?

also having this issue with Pidgin 2.5.5 on Arch Linux.

it seems that if "ignore incoming format" is unchecked, images display again

I think this is due to DirectIM(Oscar Direct Connect or Oscar File Transfer) dominates handling of data stream.

in libpurple/protocols/oscar/peer.c

This also causes double byte text to get garbled while connected with ODC2.

DirectIM should open separate data stream with text chat.

Heh, this breaks x11-plugins/pidgintex and x11-plugins/pidgin-latex plugins. And this took me long time to understand why I'm unable to see formulas in chat window. And this is pidgin-2.6.4.
