Drag & drop text

Reported by: vuego Owned by: datallah
Milestone: Component: winpidgin (gtk)
Version: 2.5.8 Keywords: drag drop windows
Cc:

Description

Selecting text or the URL icon in for example Firefox and dragging + dropping it into a chat window is not allowed in Windows. The "Unavailable" mouse pointer is shown. It's been reported to work in Unix platforms though.

It's a very good feature since it allows to send text or URL:s without messing with the clipboard.

This capability is probably up to the operating system and/or the windowing toolkit.

Have you tried to see if this works with Pidgin 2.5.8 on latest Windows?

Yes I just tried Pidgin 2.5.8 using Windows Vista SP2 and it still has the same problem. I tried dropping text from Internet Explorer 8 and Firefox 3.0 but there's only the "Unavailable" mouse pointer visible.

Running Pidgin 2.6.4 with Firefox 3.5 and it still doesn't work.

This is a GTK+ issue.
