Request to separate the tab and emoticon settings for different protocols, or at least for IRC.

A smiley theme can already change the smilies for any or all protocols.

What do you mean by separate the tab settings? You want to place tabs by protocol?

I don't see the option to set smileys per protocol.

Yes, i.e. to have chat windows be tabbed while IM windows remain separate, for example. Right now there is an option for "Show IMs and chats in tabbed windows" so it would be as easy as having two separate options ("Show IMs in tabbed..." and "Show chats in tabbed...") and keeping track of them separately. I do see that I can drag one chat window into another and it automatically becomes a tab, so that's good.

A plugin can add a placement option, I think that's the best way to deal with this.

Look closer at the theme format, perhaps download one of the ones in the SF tracker at www.sf.net/projects/pidgin/
