custom smileys from others don't display

Description

I don't know if this is something that is suppose to work, or actually a new feature. Anyway, with the official aim client and I believe others, if someone you are IM'ing has custom smileys and puts them in their message, they display even though you don't have those smileys yourself.

But for me at least, if they send me that I either have the smiley in my theme displayed, or just the actual text they type if I don't have that in my theme. This seems to happen in AIM and Yahoo, but I can't say otherwise.

Running Pidgin 2.2.0 on Ubuntu 7.04, installed from a third part repo. I have always had this problem even with older versions of Gaim.

I'd be happy to help anyway I can, just let me know what you need.

I could be mistaken, but I think an AIM buddy sent me a custom smiley the other day - I'm on Ubuntu 9.04, Pidgin 2.5.8. Is this still an issue for you (using latest Pidgin)?

AFAIK, we still don't support Yahoo or AIM custom emoticons.
