Logitech G15 Keyboard

The logitech g15 keyboard has a LCD screen with a programmable SDK which allows it to have applets written for it. Trillian and Miranda both have plugins to allow instant messages to be seen on this keyboard, but so far there is absolutely nothing for Pidgin. I'm not a programmer, so I have no idea what would be involved in making something like this, but I know that there's a lot of demand for it. I for one, am very unhappy with Trillian. Basically it sucks. All the skins are ugly, its a memory hog, and it doesn't do buddy pounces or logging the way I would like it too. The only thing it has is a plugin for my Logitech g15 keyboard, and that's the only reason I use it. I really miss pidgin, in an almost emotional way. Please spread the word around, or work on developing a plugin for it. Thanks in advance for reading my suggestion.

I could've sworn I saw another ticket for this somewhere, but can't seem to find the number right now. From memory, it boiled down to the fact that no one willing or able to code such a plugin has one of these keyboards to test it out on. However, a couple people (myself included) expressed interest in receiving a donated keyboard in exchange for writing such a plugin.

I wish I could help in donating such a thing, but I can barely afford food (I'm a college student at RIT), and mine was a gift from my girlfriend. It looks like they're still selling new for 70 bucks, and the cheapest I saw on ebay / amazon was 50. Perhaps we could get a pool of money together. If 14 people each donated 5 bucks it wouldn't be such a burden to one person and you could get a new one from tigerdirect. Any ideas how we could organize such a thing that people could donate to with paypal? I could spare $5 if I knew a good plugin was going to be developed.

If it's of any help, this is what we use under Linux to make use of the G15 screen: http://www.g15tools.com/Welcome.html (Obviously, the g15daemon)

The developer of the daemon seems pretty active in that forum (I got my response in 1 day), so I guess you could ask for some help over there. I'd be happy to test the plugin, so if you need a betatester you can count me in :)
