notifications on failed SMS over ICQ

When SMS is failed to be sent in ICQ 5.1 (any reason: wrong number, unsupported network, reaching quota or anything else), ICQ gives me nice notification, something like:

"Failed to send the SMS message. Info Number 165.
For more help, go to http://www.icq.com/help[[BR]] The Cellular network is currently unable to send your message to the recipient.
Please try again later".

When sending SMS with pidgin (last checked with 2.3.0) there is no notification for failed SMS at all. Please, at least indicate that SMS failed. Yet better give error number like ICQ client does. Or even outperform the ICQ client itself - give this error in human readable form, like "you're trying to send SMS to an unsupported network" or "hourly quota of this SMS gateway was reached, try again later".

Not fixing this ticket actually render SMS sending via ICQ protocol to unusable. What the point in sending SMSses if you can not be sure that they will be actually received ?

I remind you that sending SMSses via AIM supported only within USA.

Any chance that this bug will be fixed and I will no longer need to have ICQ installed on my computer ?

I understand you're frustrated with this bug, but the reality is that the devs are always busy and not all issues can be fixed.

That being said, maybe this ticket can be moved to Patches Welcome...that might give it a bit more exposure and someone might pick it up.

Is this still happening in 2.5.8? Can you please confirm?

Version milestones indicate the version in which things have been fixed, not which versions we would like them fixed in.

Can we get a wireshark dump of the network traffic from when the official ICQ client gets an SMS failure message? Does the pidgin Help->Debug Window say anything about getting a message it doesn't know how to handle (or just say anything at all) when an SMS message fails to be sent?
