I just recently installed Pidgin, and love it so far except for one feature. I have a group named "family", and when I tried to capitalize the f --> F, it has been causing pidgin to load up with two duplicate groups, one named "family" and the other named "Family". Deleting one group causes the other group to disappear. I searched the tickets available on the website, and it seems that people are only have this problem using other languages like Russian or Czech. I'm using English. Any help would be appreciated!

Make group names case insensitive, which is the case in the official MSN, Yahoo and AIM clients. This should fix a number of bugs related to deleting groups. I am committing this in .next.minor hoping it gives us enough time to find any bugs this may cause. Fixes #4554, #3342, #4900.
