I've looked around and I can't find anything that explains how you can link 2 AIM screen names like you can with the AIM client. You can link 2 screen names and have the same buddy list. When someone send you a message you respond with the screen name of your choice. As far as I know there isn't a way to do this currently.

I'm not sure how hard it would be since Pidgin uses multiple chat clients, but it would be very nice to have since I would like to switch to a new screen name and not have to tell all the people on my buddy list. If this is a big deal I might have to go back to an AIM client for the time being, sigh.

Could you just add both accounts to Pidgin using the Accounts editor window?

Yes that is the only way I know how to do it. But then there are 2 buddylists for AIM now. And when someone messaged my old screen name I have to reply with my old one. My understanding when you link 2 screen names you have 1 master one that is used for all the replies.
