Pidgin short freeze when doing a quick search in contact list

Also present in version 2.4.1. I have an ICQ, MSN and Jabber (gmail) account in Pidgin. When I focus in to the contact list and try to type some letter to quickly jump to a contact, i.e. I type MAR to jump to Mark, pidgin freezes immediatelly after the first letter has been typed. No matter what letter, even if there is no match (i.e. nobody beginning on X in your CL), but you type x -> you get a 5 sec freeze. Happens on 3 different computers, 3 different ICQ accounts. I haven't tried more, but suppose it is present on everybody's machine with pidgin installed. Oh, and I have Windows XP SP2, GTK shipped with 2.4.2.
