GTalk Invisibility

Description

I had pidgin on all day, and tend to have it on. I left it as invisible but when I signed into my GMail account from work, it says that my other connection does not support or is not invisible, but i know that i left it as invisible. Hope that makes sense.

P.S. I do not think this is a new problem but I finally made a point to check when I got home today.

We do not support invisibility on Google Talk. Ticket #4509 is a request for XMPP invisibility (which is not Google Talk invisibility last I knew).

well i guess in addition to this, perhaps there should be a way to tell/notify the user if a certain protocol is not what is listed on the bottom bar/selected globally. this is not to say i don't appreciate all the work done, i love pidgin and appreciate all the work the developers put into it, just trying to give a suggestion that to help people avoid the same confusion i have had.

Yes, we've needed a good way to handle falling back to other statuses and/or notifying that not all accounts have had the status changed for a while now. Unfortunately I haven't seen anyone suggest any good mechanisms and haven't seen anyone who hits this issue often decide to work on it. For example, I personally never use statuses that aren't supported on all protocols so I never have this issue.

i didn't know that it was unsupported. i don't know a good way to be honest, off the top of my head an icon of active protocols in a row with there status but thats probably not very good. thanks for your help.

so i have a few issues with this again. i have myself as invisible all day long and no im not cause GTALK (in gmail) tell me i am not but, its says on pidgin that im invisible in all locations. between having myself on my buddy list and not showing up (on aim i show up as a faded icon and the message 'invisible') so im not understand why i do not show up on GTalk for my buddy list but it is unsupported. hope that makes sense

No, sorry I didn't understand that at all. *If* the question is why, despite Google Talk not having a supported invisibility mode, do you see yourself on your own list as being invisible for your Google Talk account then the answer is (and I'm surprised to see that this happens) that we currently fake your status when you have yourself on your buddy list because XMPP doesn't (or didn't, it might now) technically allow that to happen. If that wasn't the question then please try again.
