Pidgin 2.6.3 (libpurple 2.6.3) e37623b5567c442c6771daf90fc175ae7898a10b

$ uname -sr Linux 2.6.30-gentoo-r8 (an x86 32bits system)

I could not reopen ticket #9505, so I have created another ticket.

I get the same msn error. I have the debug log from pidgin debug window, but it contains lot of email address. So that, I post here just the tail (ask me for the full log):

I hid personal email addresses: :%s/\(\w\+\)@hotmail.com/someone@…/g

Let me know where to send (not public posting, please) the original debug log.

The MSN servers are a bit more strict about what's allowed in emails than the libpurple utility function. Usually, they just return an error about the specific email and continue on with the rest, but for colons, slashes, question marks, and equal signs, they just disconnect you.

So, when adding new contacts, or checking existing contacts in the address book, ignore those with slashes, question marks, and equal signs (colon is already tested).
