#1071 closed enhancement (worksforme)

Customizable file transfer directory

Reported by: JoaCHIP Owned by:
Milestone: Component: pidgin (gtk)
Version: 2.0 Keywords: file transfer directory

Description

Currently the Windows build of Pidgin throws all file transfers on the C: drive. I have not figured out how to change this. I really think there should be a way to change this in Preferences, as the C: drive is not my favorite place to store data.

The default directory is the "last used" directory, if you choose to save a file elsewhere does this not become the new default?

I am not sure if the original comment was related to "Auto Accept" or not. Using the last folder as the default is nice, but I found hard to figure out where the auto accept was putting my files. Why? my default setting were to clean download history after completion and there were no tracks about where my file went.

Suggestions: 1) Allow defining a default sand box for all auto accept files. 2) Display the whole path in the chat window only for file transfer automatically accepted.

My apologies! Gtk's non-standard filerequesters do not look like the rest of Windows, and the first time it pops up, it is compacted into an even smaller window until you manually expand it.

This is why i didn't recognize it at first.

I shall use my eyes from now on. You may close this ticket. :)

Should I create a different ticket for the auto accept and these suggestions?

1) Allow defining a default sand box for all auto accept files. 2) Display the whole path in the chat window only for file transfer automatically accepted.

Replying to nvdfw:

There already is a preference for the Autoaccept plugin that allows you to specify a default directory.

For #2 You can file a feature request, I'm not sure if that will be more annoying than good. It also seems unnecessary given that you can define a global location.

My bad, I had the plugin enabled and did not notice before the global location. Knowing that, I will know where to look. I meant to suggest either one of the suggestions, since #1 is already available, we do not need #2. Thanks for your detailed response.
