#10898 closed defect (fixed)

MSN doesn't receive messages from new contacts

Reported by: Zoen Owned by: khc
Milestone: 2.6.5 Component: MSN
Version: 2.6.4 Keywords:

Description

I've had this happen at least twice now, once on 2.6.3 and now on 2.6.4.

A contact on MSN will request to add me to their list, and after adding, I am unable to receive any messages from that contact unless I reconnect my MSN account. I am, however, still able to send messages to them.

Attached the debug log.

Also noticed this pop up in the log after I had saved, wonder if it has to do with anything:

(18:33:11) msn: destroy httpconn (06E934C8)

Which buddy did you just add here?

I doubt their name will show up in the debug log, since I opened this ticket nearly 2 days ago and that log is from when you told me to make it.

Decided to make a new MSN account and use it to recreate this problem.

It seems that when a user adds you and you authorize it, Pidgin adds the user to your list, then immediately blocks them. The only way they can message you is if you unblock them or reconnect.

Ok, whomever is trying to reset the password to the MSN account in the newest debug log, I suggest you stop.

Not only is the account inactive, but you're not going to get it, nor are you going to get anything from it.

Make sure that libpurple core knows that a buddy is on the allow list just after accepting their add request. Previously, this was not a problem, and would go away at next login, but now that the core does its own client-side blocking, it appears as if newly added buddies can't talk to you.

Fixes #10898.
