#11781 new defect

Time before coming idle shows back when user did not come back

Reported by: NishaKitty Owned by: EionRobb
Milestone: Component: unclassified
Version: 2.6.6 Keywords:

Basically title says it all me and my partner keep having problems with this and I'm on Windows and she's on Linux, so it's not OS specific... It seems when we go away we don't actually go away x.x Sometimes the client will show that we came back every 10 minutes (our idle time) and it keeps doing it, it is really annoying!

I could think of many reasons this happens, one of them being mouse jitter x.x If so could we please have a better idle test, it would be great if the idle function was improved. Thanks everyone Oh this seems to have cropped up between on 2.6.6 I don't remember 2.6.5 doing this...

Yes, Pidgin uses mouse/keyboard activity (via the OS) to determine idleness, but how would you prefer it work?

All that really needs to be changed imo is Pidgin needs to go did the mouse move 20 pixels or whatever distance you think from where it was rather than if the mouse just move.. Something like that...

I also think there's just some bug that makes me come back out of idle cause it never happened in the previous version..
