#11788 closed defect

Moved buddies in groups but grouping disappeared after exiting Pidgin

Reported by: jgautam Owned by: rekkanoryo
Milestone: Component: unclassified
Version: 2.6.5 Keywords: groups
Cc: jidm

I regrouped all my buddy list into different groups by using "right click" menu and selecting "Move to" to set their groups.

But I lost all the changes when I exiting pidgin using "buddies -> Quit" menu item and then reconnecting.

QUestion: is this a bug or do I need to do something else to persist my group changes? I am using 2.6.5

I had experienced a related issue. It occurred to me in Pidgin 2.6.5 over Gtalk(xmpp) protocol, and still occurs on 2.7.0

My SO is Debian testing (squeeze)

Steps i followed:

  1. Create a new group Foo Bar (name having two words separated by a space character)

  1. Add new buddy Buddy to existent group Others

  1. Move Buddy to group Foo Bar

  1. Restart Pidgin, and see Buddy still in group Others instead of in group Foo Bar

  1. Moving Buddy to another existent group Family, then restarting Pidgin, works as espected.

  1. Moving Buddy to group Foo Bar, then renaming the group to FooBar? (and optionally renaming it back to Foo Bar), then restarting Pidgin, works as espected.

  1. It seems it only happens when moving buddies to empty groups when they are named with two or more words.

In the middle of this writting, i could finally move the buddy by renaming the group name.
