#12714 new defect

finch gets slow when resizing windows if it's been running for a while

Reported by: ned Owned by: QuLogic
Milestone: Component: finch (gnt/ncurses)
Version: 2.7.3 Keywords:
Cc: l_bratch

I've been leaving finch running in a screen session, I join rooms like #fedora, #python, #c on freenode. After a day or two, trying to re-size and move finch windows gets very slow, so slow that finch is unresponsive for minutes and in many cases disconnects from freenode.

  • Component changed from logging to finch (gnt/ncurses)
  • Keywords finch removed
  • Owner changed from rlaager to sadrul

Not sure why this was attributed to the logging component.

here on FreeBSD, I'm running finch-2.7.4 in screen, when terminal size is changed, finch hang and crash and gdb backtrace is full of thousands of "0x480faf09 in sighandler (sig=28) at gntmain.c:421"

This is still present, taking a number of minutes to resize after being running for some time.
