MSN friendly name not updating

Reported by: acli Owned by: QuLogic
Milestone: 2.7.8 Component: MSN
Version: 2.7.7 Keywords:

Description

In 2.7.7, if I change my MSN friendly name, it will remember my change (i.e., if I try to change it again it will show the changed name) but the friendly name (as reported on the buddy list and convo windows) is not actually changed. I have to log out of MSN and log back in in order for the change to take effect.

I have just verified with someone that the display name is actually changed. What hasn't changed is the name that is displayed in pidgin. That is, if i change my dn, start a convo with someone, and ask him/her what my dn is, they will tell me my new dn, but the one I see in my convo window is still the old one. So this is just a display problem on the local end.

The relevant part of the debug log is attached. But since we now know it's a local display problem, the log is probably not very useful.

Properly prevent updating the server with our own information, since we just sent it ourselves. This will now update the buddy list for ourselves with the new name correctly.

Maybe I should actually put the fix in there too!
