#13400 closed enhancement (duplicate)

pidgin does not support libgadu 1.10

Reported by: mariusz.d Owned by: bartosz
Milestone: Component: Gadu-Gadu
Version: 2.7.10 Keywords: libgadu gg

Pidgin has no support multi-login, which has now been added to the new version libgadu (designated 1.10) and there is no possibility of notification in the chat about writing, and showing the messages that are sent from the multi-login to another communicator. Pidgin can not also send images and files, though libgadu 1.10 already includes initial support for these options.

dude, this is pidgin so you wait to release 2.8.0 or 3. maybe few months or years :(

sorry but gg is realy forgotten and slow developed component in this program.

  • Keywords changed from libgadu, gg to libgadu gg
  • Type changed from defect to enhancement

None of the pidgin developers speak Polish or use GG. This makes it hard for us to use in any meaningful way. For a short while there was someone who did use gg involved with pidgin who worked on improving support for it but I don't believe he has been around in quite a while.

Any patches are welcome. Short of that yes, it will require waiting until someone finds the time to investigate what might be involved in doing this (on a protocol they don't know and can't meaningfully use).

(For the record, some of the reported issues, at least the typing notifications, are already reported in other tickets here.)

I made some work related to it. I replaced older internal libgadu to 1.10 version and made typing notifications and multilogin work but it's not tested on Windows yet. I will upload patches ASAP :)

  • internal libgadu is now updated to 1.10.1 in #13525.
  • multi-login works fine for me, including messages synchronization
  • typing notifications seems to be implemented in #13362 (i didn't chcecked it yet)
  • images support is now fixed (in #13554 and #13580)
  • files support is already pointed out in #372

My suggestion is to close this ticket.

Well: "multi-login works fine for me, including messages synchronization" - that could not work well yet because noone implemented it yet :) If it will fully works then you will get notifications that someone signed in from different session and you will see messages from that session :) I got it pretty much implemented :)

"typing notifications seems to be implemented in #13362 (i didn't chcecked it yet) " thats just receiving of them. I got fully implemented typing notifications but didnt have time to put that into ticket yet :)

"files support is already pointed out in #372 " that needs a log of work to make it usable :)

I applied the receive-only typing notifications patch, but I will happily apply a patch that implements full typing notification support as soon as you're able to supply it. As for the other items, of course patches are welcome, as none of our core developers use gadu-gadu.

multi-login: sorry, my bad. I got confused, because I was pretty sure, that multiple login will cause disconnects

files support: yep, you're right. But #372 is the ticket for that - I think it's no need to duplicating it here.

typing notifications: as above - #13362 is the ticket about notifications. But it's great to hear, that you are working on full implementation :).

  • Resolution set to duplicate
  • Status changed from new to closed

I have created separate ticket for multi-login (#14366), so everything pointed out there have it's own tickets.
