#13478 new enhancement

[xmpp] Send custom status to a single user

Reported by: arthurlutz Owned by: deryni
Milestone: Component: XMPP
Version: 2.7.10 Keywords:

I discovered this XMPP feature implemented in gajim but can't find it in pidgin.

You can "Send a custom status" to a user in your roster, that way you can be "Available" to most users and "Do-Not-Disturb" to others...

This can be quite useful if you communicate with clients using xmpp and pidgin so that you can be available to your colleagues but not to your clients (or the other way around).

Pidgin already supports this on a per-account basis, so you would have to use one account for your clients and another account for your co-workers. (Go to the status menu and click "New Status...".)

Anyway, I think that this feature would be useful because it would reduce the need for several accounts in those cases.

I also think that this should feature should not only be implemented for XMPP but for all other protocols that support it. I also think that it should be possible to set different statuses on a per-group basis so I don't have to manually select every single buddy in a group.

I agree, per group status would be a killer feature.
