Bonjour service wont connect to other computers

Reported by: SMLibert Owned by: datallah

Description (last modified by SMLibert)

The only firewall is the windows firewall and it has been disabled even during installation of bonjour and pidgin.

Nothing changes when it is enabled or disabled. Bonjour still doesnt seem to work properly on these 2 pc's.

Other computers running pidgin can see the 2 pc's but when a message is sent to them no error occurs and nothing pops up on the receiving end as far as a message or failed attempt for a message delivery.

I feel like it may be a conflict with the network adapter? The on board NIC does the same thing as a PCI NIC. but If i install at WIFI via USB dongle Pidgin works flawlessly.

  • Status changed from new to pending

There's nothing unusual in that log.

From your description, it sounds like a firewall problem.

If you completely disable all firewalls do your problems disappear?

  • Status changed from new to pending

Please don't replace the description when you just need to add an additional comment.

It sounds more likely that there is some sort of networking misconfiguration / firewall restriction that only affects the one network card.
