#14304 new defect

Pidgin freezes after setting a long personal message, and then resizing the window to a minimum size

Description

When you set your personal message to something really long, and then try to resize the main window so that it's as small as possible, Pidgin freezes.

To reproduce:

  1. In the main window, put text in the personal message box so that it at least wraps a few lines.
  2. Resize the window so that it's as small as possible.
  3. If Pidgin hasn't frozen yet, add more text to the personal message box and try again.

I've been able to repro whis with v2.8.0 on Slackware, and a friend of mine has repro'd this using v2.7.11 on Archlinux.

I can reproduce the bug via some easier way in Windows 7.

  1. Open a conversation window, resize it to minimal.
  2. Paste fourteen full-width spaces " " (without quotes) in the window.
  3. At the end of the spaces, input a character "1" (without quotes).
  4. Now insert a half-width space " " (without quotes) just before the "1" above.

You should see the window as well as the whole program frozen immediately. If not, try to resize the window a tiny bit and it should freeze right away.

I suspect it is some text-wrapping bug. Any ideas?
