#1498 new defect

improper tray icon while disconnected

Reported by: andrixnet Owned by: seanegan
Milestone: Component: pidgin (gtk)
Version: 2.10.0 Keywords:

Assume there is a network outage. While pidgin tries to reconnect, a specific icon is shown in the tray (featuring 2 connectors). However, if the network is still unavailable, pidgin cannot connect. The tray icon returns to the icon representing the last used status which is misleading, because the user is informed this way that everything is ok, while in fact pidgin is not connected.

I would expect an icon depicting a disconnected state to be shown.

I would add strong support for this bug. For someone who uses a laptop (and thus disconnects and reconnects frequently), this bug can be extremely irritating.
