#1520 closed enhancement (wontfix)

Make IRC Fallback nicks configurable

Reported by: RainCT Owned by: elb

Description

In case the configured nickname is already in use, Pidgin uses a nick of the form "usernam1", "username2"... However, the user may have registered username, username_, username, etc., which is quite common.

I'd like a way to add alternate nicks to Pidgin's list, which is currently impossible; it would save the hassle of manually changing the nick and re-identifying.

I posted this on the Launchpad bug: "If you're seeing clashes all the time, you should manage that yourself by using separate accounts. If you're seeing this occasionally, then you probably want to kill the old connection. The IRC Helper plugin in the Purple Plugin Pack can do this on the FreeNode network. I don't think there's a bug here."
