Description

Guess this is more of a feature request than a bug report, but since I began using Pidgin, people message me all the time, but with the window minimized or behind other windows, I never receive any notification of new incoming messages. Even with the flash option on, if I have several buddies open in tabs, there is no obvious notification that I have a new message. As a former Trillian user, I was very used to new messages causing the Windows taskbar icon to flash. It would be REALLY helpful for Pidgin to implement something like this, either/or update the taskbar with the number of new messages. The 'play a sound' on incoming messages option is not viable for use in a work environment. I need a visible indicator. By the way, your captcha is a little TOO good. I've tried TEN times, and it keeps failing me. I'm HUMAN, and I can't make out what the frell it's saying.

Found the answer. By right-clicking on the system tray icon, the 'Blink on New Message' option was displayed. I am unable to find this option anywhere in the 'Preferences' which is naturally the first place I looked. This is no longer a feature request and can be considered a report of a UI inconsistency. We can often miss what's right under our nose, because it's not where it's expected to be by convention. Just me, but I like to keep all my SETTINGS in the SETTINGS dialogues. Thanks. And your captcha is a GIGANTIC pain in the ass.
