#16407 new defect

The /me IRC command no longer parses correctly after 2.10.10 upgrade

Reported by: rmohrmann Owned by: elb
Milestone: Component: IRC
Version: 2.10.10 Keywords:
Cc: intrigeri

Description

After I have upgraded to 2.10.10 all my IRC friends are complaining that they are seeing "/me" in the text, every time I type an action. It is almost as if a space is being appended before the "/". I continue to see the action as an action, but no one else does.

Any plugins active that could affect text formatting?

Only one that was not effecting it in 2.10.9 and that's the purple plugin pack's message splitter. I have been running that same plugin for at least 5 versions, back.

Also I have now reverted to 2.10.9 and the problem has gone away.

There was a change in 2.10.10 to stop /me from leaking plain text on an otr connection. It could be related.

Some news : I've found that if I disable the "Message Splitter" plugin, the /me is working as it should.

Message Splitter plugin (2.6.3) Pidgin 2.10.11 (libpurple 2.10.11)

Unfortunately, this is probably going to mean that I will not be upgrading until the interaction between the message splitter in the purple plugin pack and the new versions of pidgin are fixed.

I could probably mean that I will not be upgrading at all for a very long time since I'm not sure if the purple plugin pack is being actively developed.
