#16555 new defect

Cannot send and receive files to Conversations and ChatSecure clients

Reported by: inf0rmix Owned by: deryni
Milestone: Component: XMPP
Version: 2.10.10 Keywords:

I use pidgin on my debian jessie box and conversations from

on my galaxy S4 / android phone.

i am not able to send files to conversations, both clients have otr activated.

on the pidgin side, I get an output like:

and when I send files to conversations, I even dont get an error message in pidgin.

this also happens when i use the "chatsecure" (another client).

Do you have any clou what could be wrong here ?

conversations/chatsecure both support jingle file transfer mod and I've read that pidgin/libpurple should do the same.

greetings, Matthias

There is already a coonversation ongoing to analyze the problem:

Is there anything I can do ?

The linked ticket is closed as working with gajim (except not quite but whatever)

Still doesn't work with pidgin because conversations implements urn:xmpp:jingle:apps:file-transfer:3, which is revision 3, and pidgin implements revision 1. The latest revision is 4.

Yay experimental specs.

I have the same problem. This request is over a year old, will there maybe a solution soon?

After so many years of no real pidgin updates. Seems pidgin got outdated :(

No real pidgin updates? We had a release in january, how do you define real? Please knock that attitude off, it comes off as entitled.

Another way to solve this problem would be to have conversations implement the file transfer spec that every other client implements, XEP-0096, which unlike jingle is a stable spec.

I've seen that update. Fixes, which is good, but none of those fixes my prios.

All what I say is, it seems like no real development in Pidgin anymore. Or was there anything new I haven't seen till now? If I did not do that update I wouldn't seen any difference to the current version today. So it seems like that pidgin comes to an end of development. Thats all I wanted to say. Sorry, no offence. Just the way it looks from outside and thats very sad.
