#2636 closed defect (wontfix)

Logged timezone doesn't change if system timezone changes while Pidgin open

Reported by: Vertelemming Owned by: datallah
Milestone: Component: winpidgin (gtk)
Version: 2.1.0 Keywords:
Cc: chemistrydioxide

Not so much a bug as a slight oddity. It seems that, on the Windows port of Pidgin at least, if you change the system timezone while Pidgin is open and logging, the numerical timezone postfix on the logfiles will change, while the text postfix will remain whatever was known at program start.

For example, -0800PST will change to +1000PST, until you restart Pidgin, which makes it change to the proper +1000EST.

Like I said, not so much a bug, as this really is only likely to cause a little confusion in log file order, but still an odd defect.

I looked into this a while ago. The timezone for existing processes doesn't change when you change the windows timezone - I'm not aware of any programs that deal with this (feel free to let me know of any that you know of).
