#3027 new defect

Clicking on a group to move it toggles its collapsed state

Reported by: imiganai Owned by: deryni
Milestone: Component: pidgin (gtk)
Version: 2.1.1 Keywords:

Description

Clicking on a group to drag-move it toggles its collapsed state.
Eg. moving an uncollapsed group makes it collapsed (you have to manually collapse it afterwards; I could understand if it was a feature and re-expanded itself afterwards). Moving a collapsed group expands it, which is strange no matter how you think about it.

It should either keep its state constant or collapse and re-expand if it was expanded to begin with.

I'm not a GTK expert (not even a novice in fact)...but I'm not sure this is a bug. It might be annoying at most and not sure what can be done.

This is an unfortunate side-effect of a working-as-intended feature. Groups were changed to collapse/uncollapse on single click a while back, as such the single click used to start a drag action triggers that. We likely should either only toggle the collapsed state on button release (as opposed to press), (slightly less optimally) undo the change at the end of the drag, or immediately collapse a group as soon as the drag starts (and restore the initial state when the drag is finished).
