I have heard from at least 2 guys that they would migrate to Gaim/Pidgin? if they wouldn't lose their ICQ (official client) logs

If I get sample log files, I can definitely look into this.

What log files do you require? I have both text log files from Messenger Plus! 3.x and HTML log files from Messenger Plus! Live 4.x if they are any use?

I do have some samples already, but more would be welcome, especially from different versions like you have.

I can provide logs for DeadAIM. That's one of the features I'm really looking forward to.

What about importing logs from Miranda IM? It stores logs in a database file called *.dat, but there is also an export plugin, which stores the logs in text (or html) files. I can provide both a sample database file and some text logs.

While I can't promise I'll get time for any particular format, I am hoping to get to these some day. Samples are definitely welcome. I also need to know what directory structure above the files you send (i.e. Where are they stored?).

Oops. I submitted a new ticket (#4276) instead of replying here. Please close that ticket as a duplicate.

Here's the description from that ticket:

It would be nice if the log reader is able to read another pidgin's logs too. Here's why that feature would be useful to me:

I dual boot (Windows and Linux) and use Pidgin on both OSs. They store their logs in different places. I can't simply point my Linux log directory to the Windows log directory using symlink because the Windows log directory is on a read-only NTFS filesystem. Windows of course cannot read Linux filesystem without extra drivers. I would like to point the log reader plugin at the windows logs (/windows/Documents and Settings/myuser/Application Data/.purple/logs) and have it "merge" those logs into the history.

Linux can write to NTFS fine now, see the ntfs-3g driver. That said, I have thought about doing something like this before.
