#3768 new enhancement

Allow rejoining of channels/chats

Reported by: davidfraser Owned by: deryni
Milestone: Patches welcome Component: pidgin (gtk)
Version: 2.2.1 Keywords:

Description

Currently if disconnected from an account, the chat is disabled. Once the account is reconnected, to open the chat again, you need to say "add chat" from the menu again. There are some chats I use infrequently for which I don't which to add them to my contacts list, but it's still annoying having to enter the details repeatedly. It would be great to have a menu option to say "re-join chat" which is enabled when the chat is disconnected but the account is connected (You can also do things like /join #channelname but this would be simpler)

I think you mean, 'you need to say "join chat" from the menu again', right?

I think we should reconnect all the open chat rooms on login.

Yes, I meant join chat. Reconnecting open rooms would be a great move

This currently happens if an account gets disconnected because of some error. If you manually leave a chat or disable the account, then chats will not be rejoined on reconnect.

A button or some kind of other shortcut to rejoining a chat in an open window would be great. I think in some clients hitting enter in the chat window will attempt a re-connect.
