#5600 closed defect (invalid)

Show Offline Buddies cannot be turned off.

Reported by: lrandlett Owned by:
Milestone: Component: pidgin (gtk)
Version: 2.4.1 Keywords:

I just downloaded Pidgin 2.4.1 and created my accounts (I have several different types of accounts set up). I turned on Show Offline Buddies. Now I want to turn off that feature, as I have many buddies that are offline. When I click on the option in Buddies > Show > Offline Buddies nothing happens. The check mark stays next to the word "Offline Buddies" and the feature will not turn off. All other options in that menu are able to be turned off, just that one appears to be broken. Is there a work around that will allow me to update an set up file somwhere to hard code it off? This issue happens on ALL accounts, regardless of the type of protocol Please advise, thanks Lori.

If you open the debug window (Help->Debug Window) and then attempt to toggle the Show->Offline Buddies item do you see a message (or more than one message) printed out saying something like "prefs: /pidgin/blist/show_offline_buddies changed"? If you do, how many do you see? Does the Offline Buddies menu item have any shortcut text next to it (like Ctrl+M for Buddies->New Instant Message)? Does this problem stay if you quit pidgin and restart it?

I quit pidgin and restarted. The problem seems to have corrected it's self. I should have thought to try that before contacting you, I know better, Doh! I also turn on the Show Offline Buddies and turned it off several times to be sure - and quit and restarted inbetween tests. It's all better now. Thank you for the speedy reply and my apologies for not thinking to quit and restart on my own! Love your product!!
