#5749 new defect

I'm hightlighted for no reason if my nick begins with a /

Reported by: chemistrydioxide Owned by: deryni
Milestone: Component: XMPP
Version: 2.4.1 Keywords: chatroom slash highlight nick

If my nick in a Jabber chatroom starts with a /, I get highighted (i.e. Pidgin thinks someone says my nick) for every message that is posted to the channel.

  • Owner changed from nwalp to deryni

Presumably it is just using the part before the '/' for matching the nick because it thinks the rest is a resource.

I think this is more likely something funny happening in purple_utf8_has_word (mostly because I don't see PURPLE_MESSAGE_NICK used anywhere in the xmpp prpl code itself).

Is this still happening in Pidgin 2.5.8?
