#6240 closed enhancement

Fallback to alternate port (or connection method) when connection fails

Reported by: thisfire Owned by:
Milestone: Component: libpurple
Version: 2.4.3 Keywords: ports, port checking, port

it is imperative for many users of pidgin to have a IM that can check multiple ports. i use my laptop, and with todays world of wi-fi, many times certain ports are blocked. often, its my IM port. other IM clients will try several ports, and i feel that this is necessary if pidgin truly wants to progress. there is another ticket on the issue, but it is old now, and forgotten. this ticket needs to stay, so that we can remember that this is one feature that we cannot go without. universities everywhere only allow certain ports, the one i attend is no exception.

someone please step up to the plate and add this functionality. or at least a plugin that does so.

Aaah... i just realized i misspelled "truly" to boot.

oh well, if you must, close this ticket. it was the only way to remind developers of pidgin that this is a much needed feature.
