#6263 closed defect (fixed)

gg_resolve_win32thread locks up

Reported by: kaspy Owned by: tomkiewicz
Milestone: 3.0.0 Component: Gadu-Gadu
Version: 2.7.10 Keywords:
Cc: datallah

Description

Every few days pidgin (ver 2.4.2 for Windows XP SP2) locks up and stop responding. This happens overnight, when PC is not used. The last line in a log file contains call to "gg_resolve_win32thread". There is no new entry in the log file after 6 hours. Task bar icon is not responding to clicks. I had the same problem with 2.4.1, so it does not seem to be recent regression.

Unfortunately, this part of code is not verbose enough. I will put there more debug messages, that might be helpful finding this bug.

That messages might be released with next version of Pidgin. But I can build it for somebody, who experience that bug - that will be much faster to find it. Just contact me.

Related: #343

New release of libgadu (1.12.0 maybe) should contain its own implementation of gg_resolve_win32thread (now ggp_resolver_win32thread_start in trunk). Then, we will drop ours.

(In [b70ab10887a7]):
New custom resolver, that uses libpurple for DNS queries. Get rid of old win32 resolver. Refs#343. Fixes #6263
