Pidgin Portable not fully closing

Reported by: nikki630 Owned by: datallah
Milestone: Component: winpidgin (gtk)
Version: 2.4.3 Keywords: portable

I have installed Pidgin Portable 2.4.3 on my Optima 4 gig USB drive. When I exit the application and try to 'safely remove' my USB drive, I get a message saying that "the device Generic Volume cannot be stopped right now. Try Stopping service later". I have actually left the drive plugged in overnight after shutting down all programs that were running on it, and in the morning I received the same message.

I am using no plugins. I have a custom smilie theme.

I have tried rebooting the computer, and starting only Pidgin from the USB drive. I have also tried deleting pidgin from my usb and reinstalling it. I have also tried looking through he processes shown in the Task Manager, ending any that I thought might be related to this problem.

If you have any further suggestion how to resolve this problem or if I can provide you with more information, I would appreciate it

  • Owner set to datallah

I don't see anything here that indicates that pidgin is responsible for the inability to shut down the drive - why do you think it is responsible?

  • pending changed from 1 to 0

When I run other programs from the drive, I have no problem shutting down the drive. If I plug in the drive, start only Pidgin, then exit Pidgin, then try to remove the drive, I get the 'cannot be stopped".

Some more information .. this happens at work (I haven't tried it at home), where I am running XP professional and on the network here. I do not have administrative rights to my machine.

The only suggestion that I have is to try to useProcess Monitor or File Monitor to see what is left open.
