Pidgin windows won't minimize when clicked on taskbar

Description

I am having troubles with Pidgin in Vista x64 SP1. Everything works great, with GTK fix for search, but now I am experiencing weird problems! When pidgin window is maximized, clicking on it on the taskbar won't minimize it to try, but keeps restoring it. The only way to minimize it is to click on minimize button, or the close button and it'll go to try.

The same behavior is with conversation windows! When they are restored(or maximized) the only way to minimize them it to click minimize button, which is ridiculous. Every single program in Windows is supposed to be minimized/restored when clicked on taskbar depending on whether it's currently restored/minimized.

Is this some kind of GTK issue?

Thank you!

This is a GTK+ bug that is fixed in newer versions.

I run 2.4.3, with that gtk fix for search. My GTK version is 2.12.8.

What do you recommend me do?

Live with one bug or the other until a new GTK+ is released which fixes both bugs.

There is new GTK released, but how can I install it and make pidgin use it? I think that's not possible until the next release of pidgin which will include that version of GTK.

There hasn't been a GTK+ version released the fixes the typeahead search bug.

I don't remember which version this was fixed in, but I do know that it is an old bug, so I'm going to close this.

So, what's the point on posting a bug if it won't be resolved?

I don't get it too. Why they didn't include the newest GTK in 2.5 which would eventually fix this bug? This is hilarious...

You have misunderstood the situation. The minimizing bug is only a bug in very old versions of GTK+, a bug which the GTK+ people have since fixed. Unfortunately the newer versions of GTK+ have another bug, the type-ahead find bug, and that bug has not yet been fixed in a GTK+ release. When there is a fixed GTK+ release we will use it and both bugs will be fixed for pidgin.

Yes. You're right. In order to fix the find a buddy bug, I had to apply older version of GTK's wingdk file, which unfortunately had a bug with minimization of windows :( I hope the newer versions of GTK+ will fix the find a buddy bug and remain 'bugless' when it comes to minimization of windows.

Keep us posted guys! Thanks.
