#8333 closed defect (worksforme)

regular certificate prompts from omega.contacts.msn.com

Reported by: Pindakaas Owned by: lschiere
Milestone: Component: unclassified
Version: Keywords: certificate prompt popup omega msn
Cc: alerque

Description

Since I upgraded my Pidgin to 2.5.4 (and later on I downloaded and compiled a newer version from the main branch) I keep getting these certificate prompts telling me to accept or deny the certificate from omega.contacs.msn.com.

Attached is the certificate file (the FAQ told me to).

I'm currently running Windows XP SP 3

My pidgin version was downloaded and cross-compiled (in Ubuntu) from the main branch last weekend. But I had the same problem when I used version 2.5.4

I already tried moving my certificates folder. Pidgin created a new folder and I had to accept all kinds of certificates. But this one keeps coming back.

Keep up the good work!

I have the same issue. It seems like I accept certs from omega.contacts.msn.com every few hours. Using: Pidgin 2.5.4

did you compile pidgin yourself?

comment:5 Changed 11 years ago by alerque

No, disto package (PLD Linux) ... but I can recompile against their spec file if there is something more or less that needs to be done.

It's almost certainly not a pidgin problem, check with the distro whether they ship with up to date system certificates and whether pidgin is configured to use system certificates

Thank you for the extra effort. I checked into my distro and found a ca-certificates packages that I had not installed that seems to have cleared the problem up for me.

I am getting the same issue starting today Nov 18th 2010 My flavor: Ubuntu 10.10 maverick meerkat with kernel 2.6.35-23 loading Pidgin from distro 2.7.3

omega.contacts.msn.com certificate issue seems quite annoying.

Same problem here, . I solved it by updating OpenSSL 0.9.8k-7ubuntu8.3 to 0.9.8k-7ubuntu8.4 Pidgin 2.7.5 works fine in Linux Mint Isadora.

This 21 month old ticket is not the same issue as is happening now. See #12906 for that.
