filled in everything I know (really not much)

/!\ I am missing docs on the config files, therefore I started this page. Please help filling out the gaps or pointing me towards existing resources'' --Christoph

On Windows the configuration directory is located in %userprofile%\Application Data\.purple

It contains the following folders:

  • icons
  • logs
  • plugins
  • smileys

and the following files:

  • accels
  • accounts.xml - Your accounts. Some of the StatusMessages? seem to be stored there too (???). Note that your password is stored there in plain text, if you choose to store passwords.
  • blist.xml? - Your BuddyList?
  • prefs.xml - Your preference settings
  • status.xml - Your StatusMessages?
All information, including names and email addresses, entered onto this website or sent to mailing lists affiliated with this website will be public. Do not post confidential information, especially passwords!
