Help Wanted

This page is intended to track those features and "modules" (for lack of a better word) in Pidgin and libpurple which either lack a current maintainer among the active development team, or have a maintainer but would benefit significantly from outside assistance.

The fact that a particular feature or protocol does not appear on this list does not mean that assistance with it would not be welcome! After all, the best motivation is scratching one's own itches ...

  • We have a couple reports of crashing with offline messages (OIM) in MSNP14
  • Please document any other brokenness or ugliness here!
• Yahoo!
  • File transfer does not work when the recipient uses the OS X client or versions 7 and 8 of the Windows client.
    • We have a patch to implement receive-only support for when the sender uses version 7 for Windows and the receiver uses Pidgin/Finch?.
    • We need send support for both new methods.
  • MSN interoperability support is probably not as good as it should be, but this may require changing more than just the Yahoo plugin.

  • Privacy support is basically non-existant; this probably needs a complete rewrite.
  • Away messages don't work correctly with official clients and some third-party clients.
  • Buddy icons may not work correctly with official clients and some third-party clients.
